Well, I tried running tonight (on grass), just to see how my legs would feel. At first it was ok, but after 5 mins I had to switch to a brisk walk. I dunno what I'm going to do if I can't run the race. This sucks!

Could it possibly be time for new shoes?

I definitely recommend intervals to start off -- got me back running. I bought a cheap-o stop watch, and woudl jog/run for 45 seconds, walk 45. or whatever feels comfortable. the point is that you're keeping your body warmed up for longer, increasing your endurance over time.
just a suggestion! getting out there is awesome, good luck!

Oh no - that's too bad! I hope the healing process speeds up for you!

Just checking up on how you were doing with the shin splints.

I see not that good...

It's too bad about the pool running and that it is too far for you.

1 week is a bit too soon though... you don't want to get a fracture. Did you go to the doc yet?

Take it easy and just do your other cardio instead and work on strengthening the other muscles. And don't forget RICE!

Take care of yourself.
